Snow melting and ice rinks

Snow melting and ice rink systems in Lebanon

Pipes under the surface keep a mountain driveway clear of snow, or keep an ice rink frozen. GSAT designs, supplies and installs both, with a 2-year installation warranty.

Snow melting for mountain homes

In Faqra, Kfardebian, the Cedars and other mountain areas, a snowed-in driveway can close a house for days. A snow melting system keeps the way in clear without shovels, salt or a plough.

The pipe is laid on insulation under the driveway, ramp or terrace and connected to a heat source, usually the same boiler room that heats the house. A sensor can switch it on when snow or ice is expected.

Ice rinks

An ice rink floor is a dense grid of pipes. A chiller pumps a cold fluid through them and the water above freezes into an even sheet of ice. GSAT supplies and lays the pipe grid and its connections.

Why it pays to plan early

  • The pipe goes under the surface, so it is laid before the concrete or paving.
  • The heat source is shared: sizing the boiler room for the house and the driveway together costs less than adding it later.
  • One team lays the pipe, connects it to the boiler room and tests it before the surface is closed.

How a project runs

  1. Send the site plan

Mark the driveway, ramp or terrace, or the rink area. Photos help.

  2. Layout and quote

We draw the pipe layout and size the connection to the heat source.

  3. Installation

Insulation, pipe and manifolds laid and pressure-tested before the surface is poured.

  4. Handover

Commissioning with a 2-year installation warranty.

Questions about snow melting and ice rinks

Where is snow melting used?

On driveways, garage ramps, entrances, stairs and terraces of mountain homes, where snow and ice block access in winter.

How does snow melting work?

Pipes laid under the outdoor surface carry warm water mixed with antifreeze. The surface stays above freezing, so snow melts as it falls and ice does not form.

When should snow melting be planned?

Before the driveway or terrace is poured. The pipes go under the concrete or paving, so it is planned with the outdoor works.

Do you build ice rinks?

Yes. An ice rink uses the same idea in reverse: a dense pipe grid under the rink carries a chilled fluid that freezes the water above it.

What warranty do you give?

Snow melting and ice rink installations carry a 2-year GSAT installation warranty.

Building in the mountains?

Send us the site plan on WhatsApp before the driveway is poured, and we will draw the snow melting layout.
